Residents within the corporate city limits of Chester and non-residents who pay taxes on property located within the corporate city limits are eligible to receive library services and obtain a library card without any additional fee.
Children under 16 must have parents or legal guardian sign library application card, in person, at the library’s circulation desk.
Persons outside the corporate city limits of Chester but reside within Chester Community Unit School District #139 may obtain a Chester Public Library card by paying an annual non-resident fee. As of July 1, 2022 the non-resident fee is $55.00 a year per household.
New patrons must complete an application form and show proof of both identification and residency.
NOTE: You must present a valid library card when checking out material from the library.
Book & Media Donations:
If you would like to donate materials to the library, please ensure that they are in decent condition. Once given to the library, materials will be evaluated regarding the merit of adding them to our collection and may opt not to add them. We are not accepting book donations at this time.
Monetary Donations:
Chester Public Library accepts monetary donations to enhance library services through the provision of additional materials, services, and special events.
